As you prepare for your upcoming assignment to the Philippines, the question of where to send your child to elementary school is on everyone’s mind. Where should I enroll my child, and what types of schools are available?
We aim to address these concerns in this article. While this is a preliminary version and will be updated gradually, I’m starting with some brief notes and links to provide you with an overview of the available options and an understanding of the associated costs. Organize this information into a tidy table and provide a detailed map later. In the meantime, you can use the link below to access related articles on kindergartens, preschools, and daycare centers in BGC for reference!

Internation School? Local Schoo? Local International School?
There are three main types of schools to choose from.
- International Schools
- Local International School
- Local School
There are many choices, but ultimately, the best and happiest environment for your child is one where they can be relaxed and have a good time.
However, there are several factors to consider, including the school’s atmosphere, tuition fees, and other financial aspects.
Let’s take a look at the characteristics of each school and the necessary expenses and tuition fees to see where the best place to send your child is while you are an expatriate or on an overseas assignment.
The overall map is available below.
In addition to BGC, we have also included other international schools for your reference.
If you plan to send your child to an international school, the biggest obstacle you will face is the parents’ English language skills. Many parents are disappointed to find that everything, including the messages they receive, is suddenly in English.
If you are anxious about going abroad or are currently in a foreign country and are worried about your child’s English ability, we recommend our free counseling service 👇

Beacon: The Beacon School
In 2001, Beacon was founded by educators and other professionals, all lifelong-learners and dedicated parents, inspired to build a K to 8 school for their own children. They created The Beacon School to engage students in a rigorous and progressive programme of study, while nurturing them within a close-knit community. They envisioned a school that would cultivate leaders for the 21st century.
The Beacon School motto is Veritas et Lumen – the Truth and the Light – the fundamental principles that guide the educational philosophy and practice of the school.
Our Vision
Beacon strives to foster a learning community that will inspire its students to be lifelong learners and agents of change who are guided by compassion and integrity.
Our Mission
The Beacon School provides students with a global education that is both rigorous and balanced, that nurtures and inspires them toward their individual potential. The learning community encourages students to integrate a deep appreciation for Filipino culture with a respect for diversity, understanding the complexity of our world. They are challenged to become independent thinkers, confident communicators, and engaged citizens committed to act in service of society.
The Beacon Story
We started with a vision 22 years ago, to bring about a change that would help shape a better Philippines. We saw rich possibilities in today’s children; they can be the agents of change. Thus was born the Beacon School, now a thriving and sustainable institution.
A school that would help shape our country’s future by fostering a love and ability to learn in children who in turn would give back to society now and in the future.
A school that would develop an effective blueprint for progressive education and share it with all other schools across the country.
We believe that together, we can transform our nation.
Beacon strives to deliver a different type of education.
Its methods are predicated on values that we feel are crucial to national development –
Of honesty and integrity, tolerance, critical and imaginative thought.

MJS : Manila Japanese School
MJS: Manila Japanese School
MJS is the Japanese school in Manila.

A well-organized school with over 300 students.
The number of students is just under 60 in each grade, with over 300 elementary school students alone. Compared to Japanese elementary schools, it seems to be of the same size, or even larger. One of the criteria for enrollment is that students must have Japanese nationality, so the majority of the students are basically Japanese.

With so many people, there’s no need to worry about friends, and parents can easily exchange information with each other, so it’s reassuring.
Being able to converse with teachers in Japanese and considering how difficult it can be for children who have just transferred to a new school, this is probably the easiest way for them to adapt to the new environment.
